STOCK MARKET
JOHNSONVILLE SALE. Wright, Stephenson and Co.. Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on the Johnsonville sale, held yesterday when they offered a smaller yarding of cattle than usual, and a large yarding of sheep. ' The majority of bullocks penned were of exceptionally good quality, with a few pens of lightweight sorts. Prime quality cattle met with a good sale, with no alteration, and lightweight bullocks were hard to quit. The penning of cows was of very poor quality, with prices showing an easing tendency of 10s to 15s a head. Runners and vealers met with a steady sale, with no alteration. In the sheep section no heavy wethers were yarded, the yarding consisting chiefly of medium weight and lightweight sheep. The demand was not keen, with frequent passing. Good quality ewes met with fair competition at late rates, and poorer sorts were not wanted. Prime quality lambs met with good competition, with prices fully Is to Is 6d a head above export rate, though lightweight and unfinished lambs were hard to sell.
