INTER-HOUSE SPORTS

GOOD ENTRIES RECEIVED. GIRLS’ DRILL COMPETITIONS. Considerable interest is being taken by the staffs of Masterton business houses in the forthcoming inter-house competitions, it was reported at last night’s meeting of the committee of the Inter-House Association. Entries have already closed for the girls’ drill competition and individual firms are preparing entries for the athletic events on the programme. In order to avoid difficulties arising from the clashing of colours chosen by teams, all colours had to be registered with entries for the girls’ section and further registrations are still being received for the athletic events. Firms who will have teams competing in other events must register colours with either Mr J. Woolf, c/o Mac Duff's, Ltd., or with Mr D. Costello, at the W.F.C.A., before February 25. Eleven teams have been entered for the girls’ drill competitions, with colours as follow: W.F.C.A. (royal blue and gold); McKenzie’s (while); Mac-Duff’s (Tartan); Woolworths (clover and white); Cody's (purple and silver); State Kitchenette (red and white); Cafeteria (green and white); Leecroft Chambers (purple and gold); Stock & Station Agents (navy and white); Hansell’s (red, white and blue); Hugo & Shearer’s (blue and white). In the tug-of-war event. C. E. Dam iell’s (green and gold), and' Fagan Motors (royal blue and gray) have been registered. Because the original date chosen for the sports, March 4. clashed with a College function, arrangements have now been made to secure the use of the Park Oval for Saturday, March 11. The dance will be held that evening in the Municipal Hall and so the former difficulty has been overcome. A massed physical drill display by all the girls’ teams will be a feature of the afternoon programme and good entries are anticipated for all the athletic events. The committee will make a canvass soliciting donations for the prize fund and the A. & P. Association has donated a cup for the girls’ drill competition.
