ORDER OF FORESTERS
LOYAL ENTERPRISE LODGE. MEETING IN MASTERTON. The fortnightly meeting of Court Loyal Enterprise, Ancient Order of Foresters, was held last evening, C.R. Bro C. A. Leigh presiding over a’ fair attendance. Bro Walker reported on the sick members who were all progressing favourably. It was resolved that a letter of sympathy be forwarded to the family of the late Dr P. R. Cook, members present standing in silence as a mark of respect to his memory. The C.R. Bro Leigh, chairman of the picnic committee, thanked members for their hearty co-operation, and congratulated everyone on the great success of the annual picnic held at Mr Payton’s bush, Akura. Those members who placed their cars at the disposal of the committee were especially mentioned. A special vote of thanks was passed to Mr Payton for granting the use of his property, and also to Mesdames Leigh and Brown for the assistance they gave with the children’s sports programme. Bro T. N. N. Coley’s work in attending to the regular supply of hot water during the day was given a fair share of appreciation. The secretary apologised for his non-at-tendance at the picnic on account of having other duties to perform. A copy of a circular issued by the Dominion Friendly Societies’ Council, in reference to the proposed Social Security Act, was read and discussed. Sick pay amounting to £ll 10s was passed for payment. ANNUAL PICNIC. AN ENJOYABLE GATHERING. The annual picnic of Court Loyal Enterprise. Ancient Order of Foresters, was held at Mr Payton’s bush during the weekend. The weather was ideal and the attendance was well up to expectations. With an energetic committee in charge of Bro C. A. Leigh success was assured. The children were well catered for, with a splendid sports programme and good prizes for those who were successful and bags of lollies for those less fortunate. Mesdames Leigh and Brown deserve to be congratulated for the way in which they supervised the children’s events.
Transport from town to the lovely bush was provided by members, who kindly placed their cars at the disposal of the committee. Special mention should be made of Bros Sharman, Coley and Barnes. Bro Coley had charge of the hot water supply and carried out his duties to perfection. At the conclusion of a most enjoyable outing the committee expressed its grateful thanks to Mr Payton for granting the use of his grounds.
