KILLING AGAIN

OPERATIONS AT WAINGAWA WORKS. TWO MUTTON CHAINS GOING. Killing operations have been resumed at Messrs T. Borthwick and Sons’ Waingawa Works, the slaughter and cooling rooms of which were badly gutted by fire on February 4. • Yesterday one of the two mutton chains which have been erected on part of the undamaged cooling floor was given a try-out, and the men put through about 1000 sheep and lambs in good style. Today two chains are working at full capacity. \ It is probable that no more beef killing will be done at Waingawa this season, all efforts being concentrated on dealing with the mutton and lamb X position. Splendid progress has been made by the builders and workmen engaged at Waingawa and it was something of a feat to have made killing possible within such a short period.
