Tree Planting on Highways.
The attitude of the Main Highways Board toward projects for tree planting along the roadsides was stated to be very sympathetic by the actingchairman. Mr A. J. Baker, to a deputation from the Akaroa Borough Council at Duvauchelle. The board would be willing to give every consideration and as much guidance as it could to such schemes. Mr Baker said. At present, however, it was unable to give financial assistance. The board was anxious to see the local authorities take the initiative in the matter.
