NOTES BY “THE BOWLER." Club Competitions. The champion singles and champion pairs have now reached an interesting stage. Champion Singles. In a further round. E. Reid beat G. Hayne, F. Percy beat F. Evans, Bannister beat J. Campbell, V. Taylor beat W. Christian, G. Beecroft beat A. Henderson. H. Morton beat McCullough. E. Reid still has two lives, and the remaining players one life each. . The committee have definitely decided that the champion singles must be completed by Wednesday next. February 15. to enable the winners name to be entered for the Wairarapa champion of champions. Champion Pairs. W. McCullough and C. Perry still have two lives, and if Thurston and Taylor win their next game they also will have two lives. Colts Match. I do not. as a rule, make any special reference to games played, but I cannot refrain from referring to the first match played by the colts, viz., that between N. McKay and J. R. GuthrieSmith. These players have only been members of the club for about three months, and it was most interesting to watch the efficient play by these two colts. The game was fairly close, and not many points separated them throughout th? 21 heads. They both had a good knowledge of the game and after an exciting finish, McKay won by one point. I congratulate both these young players, and if they practise frequently there is no reason why they should not, next season, give some of the senior players a hard game.
