COMING CARNIVAL
BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY—Y.M.C.A EFFORT.
BIG WEEK’S PROGRAMME . PLANNED.
Satisfactory progress was recorded in reports received from sub-committec convenors at a meeting of the Beautifying Society—Y.M.C.A. Carnival Committee held this week.
It was decided that each organisation should contribute a small sum towards preliminary expenses and the carnival treasurer, Mr H. M. A. Major, was authorised to collect this and open an account for the deposit of funds. The convenor of the Concert Committee. Mr J. M. Lawson, gave an account of preparations already made to present an outstanding entertainment during the week of the Carnival. A revue was planned and to stage this, the' co-operation of many talented people both in Wellington and Masterton was being secured. It was thought that the revue should run at least four night and this was decided upon. No plans were made for the Thursday night of Carnival week out on the Friday night a Cabaret is proposed, to be held in the Municipal Hall. Carnival Saturday will be the big day of the Carnival and the programme for this day will take place in the Masterton Park. Many attractions are planned both on the Oval and in sideshows. In addition there will be the usual stalls under the direction of the combined ladies’ committee. A subcommittee was appointed to draw up the programme for Saturday. An endeavour is to be made to have p Carnival evening in the Park also, bu this will depend on the lighting available.
Several suggestions were no< n d for consideration. The committee will meet again next Tuesday.
