OFFICIAL SECRETS

PROPOSED LEGISLATION IN BRITAIN. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, February 9. The Government will introduce a Bill in the House of Lords next week, to amend Section VI of the Official Secrets Act. Sir Samuel Hoare announced in the House of Commons that this decision had been reached after careful consideration. Section VI. which deals with provisions requiring persons who come into possession of official secrets to disclose iheir source, has been the subject of considerable criticism among journalists’ organisations and civil liberty societies as threatening the freedom of the Press.
