FEILDING SALE. GOOD LAMBS SELL WELL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, February 10. There were heavy yardings of sheep at today’s l sale, but, despite this, there was a good demand for all good store sheep. Better quality lambs sold very well, as did also some select young, mixed, aged breeding ewes. The attendance was very large and indications were that the demand will continue.
Fat cattle did not realise very high prices, but a fairly heavy penning made a satisfactory clearance at prices well up to late rates. Boner cows were at unchanged prices. Prices were as follows: * Cattle: Prime quality cows, £7 17s 6d to £8 ss; second grade, £5 15s to £6 15s; light and unfinished, £4 to £5 ss; prime heifers, £7 to £8; medium prime, £5 12s 6d to £6; others, £5 to £5 15s prime cows and heifers, £7 to £7 12s 6d; cows and vealers, £3 ss; P.A. vealers, 12s 6d; boner cows, heavy, £3 10s to £4; backward, £2 10s to £3 7s 6d; three-year P.A. bullocks, £7 15s to £9.
Sheep: Well-grown w.f.w. lambs, 17s Id; second quality, 14s 6d to 15s 9d; smaller sorts, Us 6d to 13s 9d; culls, 8s 6d to 10s 3d; good b.f. culls, 18s; smaller, 15s 8d to 16s Id; backward, 12s to 14s; ewes, best, 16s 7d to 275; mediumsized, 15s 3d to 15s lOd; good five-year ewes; 18s 7d; others, 16s to 17s 3d backward five and six-year, 12s; small twotoSth ewes, 21s 9d; extra goodm.a. ewes, 26s 6d; two-tooth wethers, 15s 7d. Fat sheep: Late rates prevailed for lambs and wethers, of which the entry was large. Medium prime lambs, 18s 9d; light, 16s 6d to 16s lOd; prime wethers, 20s 3d to 21s 2d; second grade, 18s to 18s 6d; light, 16s 9d to 17s 4d; unfinished, 15s 6d; prime b.f. two-tooths, 20s to 21s;' medium weights, 18s 9d to 19s 8d; lighter, 16s 3d to 18s 6d.
Fat ewes: The best offered made 10s to 12s 6d.
Dairy cattle: Very firm dairy cattle were yarded and values were unaltered. Good springing cows sold at from £8 10s to £8 15s; backward, £5 15s; heifers in milk, £7.
Pigs: Weaners, 7s to 12s 6d; slips, 13s to £1 2s 6d; stores, £1 Is to £1 10s; porkers, £1 9s to £1 14s; baconers, £2 10s.
CARTERTON SALE.
LATE RATES MAINTAINED.
Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows:—A'good yarding of sheep and pigs and a small yarding of cattle came forward at our Carterton sale yesterday, and was offered to a large attendance. Values were on a par with late sales, and practically a total clearance was effected at the following prices:— Sheep: Two-tooth ewes, 24s 6d,. 25s 7d to 26s 4d; m.a. ewes, to 24s sd; five and six-year ewes, 10s 6d to 14s; s.m. ewes, 8s to 10s; failing-mouthed ewes, 4s to 7s; cull ewes, Is Bd, 2s 7d to 3s 4d; b.f. lambs (good), to 16s 7d; (medium), 13s 9d, 14s Id to 14s sd; (small), 7s 9d to 8s 3d; medium woolly wether lambs, 8s 2d, Bs.3d to 9s sd; shorn wether lambs, 7s 5d to 10s; small wether lambs, ss, 5s 3d, 5s 9d to 6s; woolly ewe lambs, to 15s 6d; shorn ewe lambs, 10s 6d to 16s 3d; fat ewes, to 10s; fat b.f.’s, to 17s Bd.
Cattle: Springing heifers, to £7 2s 6d; fat cows, £4 to £5 9s; forward cows, £2 19s to £3 16s; store cows, £2 to £2 15s; bulls, £4 13s to £6. Pigs: Weaners, good Ils to 15s; medium, 9s to 10s 6d; small, 7s to 8s 6d; slips, 18s to 225; store pigs, 23s 6d to 295; light porkers, 30s to 335; porkers, 35s to £2 9s.
