SWIMMING

SATURDAY NIGHT’S CARNIVAL. All arrangemefits are now well in train for the Masterton Amateur Swimming Club’s Carnival to be held on Saturday night at the Dixon Street Baths. Only a nominal charge is being made at the gate of one shilling for adults and sixpence for children. This branch of amateur sport certainly needs a “fillup,” especially in the Wairarapa, and by attending this carnival is one way in which the public can help. Programmes for the Carnival are being printed and one ardent supporter of the club has donated a small prize for the boy selling the most copies. These will be obtainable from the secretary’s office on Friday afternoon. Among the entries received is one from Mr D. P. Lindsay, New Zealand’s 880 yards and mile champion and to see him swim will be worth the admission charge alone.
