There were also present Messrs Faulknor, McGregor, Ross, McFarlane and the headmaster, Mr Jones. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Pither, Donovan and Fly.

Accounts amounting to £4 2s were passed. The headmaster’s report which was adopted .stated that the present roll number was 225, with 38 new pupils admitted during the month. Miss Drummond and Mr Kane had been added to the staff.

During the current month a modified time table is being carried out in connection with the school curriculum, and full advantage is being taken of the opportunity for the pupils to take swimming lessons. Baths are in use from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. The distance swimming certificates will be arranged towards the end of the month. Special instructions have been issued by the Department for the undertaking of tuition in ambulance work, and an effort is to be made to secure the necessary material so that this important work, can be undertaken. Complete arrangements have been made for the participation of the school in the forthcoming Keep Fit week. A special feature of this year’s programme in connection with school acclivities will be the hand-work by the pupils. At the’ end of the second school term a combined display is to be given in the Town Hall, and exhibits will then be chosen for placing in the Court at the Centennial Exhibition. In order to give this work a start the committee voted the sum of £5 for initial

expenses. It is the desire of the committee that a Home and School Association should be formed in connection with the new school and arrangements are to be made during the coming month to convene a meeting of parents and those interested.

Messrs Donovan and Logan were appointed a visiting committee for the ensuing month and several matters of maintenance in connection with the school grounds were left in the hands of the secretary to arrange.
