MARTINBOROUGH EWE FAIR. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co Ltd report as follows on their Martinborough Ewe Fair yesterday: A good entry of ewes came forward at the above fixture and was submitted to a good attendance of buyers. Included in the entry were several lines of good 4 and 5-yr ewes, and for these there was a keen demand while for aged ewes the freezing price was the controlling factor. The following is the range of prices: A/c H. H. Oates, 4- ewes 23s 8d; 5-yr do, 18s; a/c Rayson and Thomas, 4-yr ewes, 19s, 5- do, 16s Id; a/c D. Jones, 5-yr ewes, 17s Id; a/c M. A. Finlayson, 5-yr ewes, 18s Id; a/c D. A. W. McConnell, 4-yr ewes, 20s; a/c G. Gaudin, 4-yr ewes. 20s 3d; rough sorts made from 12s to 15s and fat ewes 9s to 10s. EKETAHUNA SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co report as follows on their Eketahuna sale yesterday; We offered a large entry of lambs to a good attendance, buyers being present from Masterton and the Manawatu districts. Bidding was keen throughout, and good lambs suitable for rape showed an improvement in values, but store lambs remained firm on last week’s values. A total clearance was effected, and the following list of our principal sales will indicate values: Good woolly w.f. wether lambs, 13s 7d to 14s 2d; medium do, 11s 6d to 12s 4d; small do, 6s 7d, 7s 8d to 8s Id; cull do, ss; shorn w.f. wether lambs, Ils 4d to 12s; medium do, 8s 6d to 9s 3d; medium b.f. lambs, 13s Id. 13s 6d to 13s 9d; good woolly w.f. ewe lambs, 16s 7d, 17s to 17s 6d; medium do, 13s 7d, 13s lid to 14s 2d; small do, 12s, 12s 6d to 12s 9d; shorn w.f.,ewe lambs, 15s 6d; cull fail-ing-mouth'ewes, 3s Bd, 5s 7d; two-shear Romney rams, 2Jgns; mixed age do, to 2gns; 5-yr do, 1£ to 2gns; weaner pigs, 18s to 19s 6d; good weaners, 20s to 21s 6d.
MASTERTON EWE FAIR. Messrs Dalgety and Co Ltd report on their Masterton Ewe Fair, held in conjunction with the weekly Masterton Sale on Wednesday, as follows: The yarding consisted of a medium class of ewes and a fair entry of lambs and wethers which attracted a large attendance. Bidding on the breeding ewes was restricted with the result that prices showed a decline on those of sales held in neighbouring districts. This may be accounted for by the quality of the ewes yarded. Two-tooths, however, were in good demand and made values up to 295. B.f. lambs were in good demand and made values on a par with last week. We report a total 1 clearance as under: 4-th wethers, 17s 3d; 2-th, 15s 6d; b.f. rape lambs, 15s Id, 15s 7d to 16s Id; medium b.f. lambs, 13s sd; medium w.f. wether lambs, 10s 4d; small do, 7s Id, 7s 9d, to 8s 4d; ewe lambs, 16s Id to 15s 7d; 5-yr ewes, 14s; 6-yr ewes, Ils Id, 11s 7d, 12s to 12s 4d.
