A completely new policy flor the control of aborigines has been adopted by the Federal Cabinet. The scheme will hinge on the creation of a Native Affairs Department on the lines of the New Guinea and Papuan practices, under the control of a Director. The ultimate object of the new policy is to raise the status of aborigines and to qualify them to accept the privileges and responsibilities of citizenship.
