LERNER EXPEDITION
ACTIVITIES IN THE BAY OF PLENTY.
VISIT TO MAYOR ISLAND.

Two officials have been sent to Tauranga by the Minister in Charge of Tourist and Publicity to lend all assistance possible to the Lerner scientific expedition from the United States. Mayor IslanTT was visited yesterday. A strong westerly wind prevented fishing, although the day was sunny. Advantage was taken by the expedition to complete cinematograph pictures of the work of crating plaster casts of fish. The visitors had previously enjoyed very successful big game fishing. Captain Hatch, a member of the expedition, says the best sword-fish-ing in the world is at Mayor Island. The expedition is covering every angle of big game fishing, ensuring excellent publicity for the Dominion in the United States.
The expedition returns to Tauranga on Saturday. The head of lhe expedition is Mr Michael Lerner and Mrs Lerner is with Ihe party.
