The Foreign Minister (M. Georges Bonnet) in the Senate, declared in even stronger terms than hitherto that France would never agree to the handing over of an inch of territory to Italy. He said any attempt to carry out such a transfer would only lead to armed conflict, nor could France allow any foreign Power to threaten the integrity of Spain. The Senate passed a vote of confidence in the Government by 290 votes to IG, THREAT TO MINORCA FRANCO CONTEMPLATING BLOCKADE. INHABITANTS IN DANGER OF FAMINE. The British United Press Paris correspondent quotes “Le Soir’s” statement that General Franco intends an early attack on Minorca, which is already blockaded, threatening the inhabitants with famine. . He will use ten thousand Spanish troops and no Italians in order to avoid perturbing England and France. His submarines have reached the Alcudia naval base in Majorca, but Minorca is heavily defended with long-range naval guns, principally at Port Mahon. . DE FACTO RECOGNITION. ACCORDED BY POLAND. (Received This Day, 12.55 p.m.) WARSAW, February 7. By sending a trade delegation to Burgos, Poland has accorded the Franco regime de facto recognition.
