COLLEGE PIPE BAND

PREPARATIONS FOR COMING CONTEST.

MONDAY NIGHT’S CONCERT.

For Monday night’s concert to raise funds to take the Wairarapa College Pipe Band to the Christchurch Contest, an enthusiastic eightsome reel team is now in full practice. Under the guidance of Messrs M. C. Walker and Alex Cruickshank, and Chief’s Piper T. Pickett (all of the Saint Andrew Society) the team is already giving a wonderful performance, characterised by youthful vigour and true Highland spirit. All the members of the team are pupils of the College, the boys being four members of the Pipe Band, and their partners four girls from the College. Their performance on Monday night will be well worth going far to see.

Miss Edwards, of the College staff, is organising girls’ dancing and athletic teams to perform at the concert. The band itself will, of course, give items, including a performance of the Test selection, which they hope to be given the opportunity of performing at the contest.

Reports indicate that the box plan, at Mr H. E. Pither’s shop, is filling rapidly, and early application for seats is advisable.
