FREEZING WORKS FIRE

CARTERTON BRIGADE RECEIVES DONATION. APPRECIATION OF SERVICES. ("Times-Age'’ Special.) The Superintendent of the Carterton Fire Brigade, Mr R. P. Wakelih, has received a donation of £l5 15s from Messrs Thomas Borthwick and Sons Ltd., in appreciation of its services at the fire at the Waingawa Works on Saturday. The letter covering the donation reads: “We would like to thank you and your brigade for the very excellent work done at Waingawa on Saturday night. We enclose a cheque for £l5 15s for your brigade. We understand your brigade is a volunteer one and as such all the members are to be congratulated on . their knowledge of fire fighting and the work that they did.’’

The letter is signed by Mr P. J. Borthwick.
