RAIN AT LAST

BRISK SHOWERS FALL THIS

MORNING.

SOUTHERLY WEATHER SETS IN.

Early last evening Masterton and Wairarapa residents rejoiced when rain was heard pattering down on the roofs of their houses. Following on a change to the south, the weather turned much cooler, and light rain set in, though the fall during the night was very spasmodic, not more than nine points being recorded in Masterton. up to 9 a.m. today. Later this morning, however, several brisk showers fell, bringing much needed moisture to parched gardens and pastures. A much more substantial rain than is in prospect at present is needed throughout the district. Last month only a little over half-an inch was recorded.
