GREYTOWN

SWIMMING CARNIVAL. ("Times-Age” Special.) A number of Masterton swimmers will compete at the Greytown Swimming Carnival tonight. Defence Rifle Club. A practice shoot was held on Saturday afternoon at 300yds with and without slings and aperture sights. A double ten shots were fired. The weather was hot and the light was dull. H. W. Feast was top scorer with 93 off the rifle, followed by H. R. Feast with 91. The following are the scores:—

Next Saturday the Tansey Shield competition will be fired at Papawai. Riflemen from all part of the Wairarapa will take part.

LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.

ENJOYABLE PICNIC

The Carterton branch of the League of Mothers held a picnic in the Memorial Park on Saturday. The Greytown branch were invited to be present and an enjoyable time was spent by ah. During the afternoon races were held for young and old, Mr Beere acting as starter. The children had a happy time on the swings, slide and merry-go-round. Afternoon tea was served under the trees. Bowling Pairs. In the club champion pairs Dennes and Carter defeated V. Vile and R. G. Vile. Personal. Mr and Mrs Max Maddison will leave Greytown shortly to take up their residence in Hastings. Mr Maddison has been appointed to the Agriculture Department at Hastings.
