MEETING OF MASTERTON ASSOCIATION. ARRANGEMENTS FOR FORTHCOMING SHOW. The president, Mr P. R. Welch, presided at the monthly meeting of the Masterion A. and P. Association, held ■last night. There was a good attendlance of members and final arrangements were made for what should (prove to be a most successful Show. ( Advice was received that his Excellency, Lord Galway, would arrive at the Showgrounds at .11.30 a.m. on People’s >Day. His Excellency will officially open the show over the loudspeakers at about 1.30 p.m. and will lunch with officials of the association. The Leader of the Opposition, the Hon Adam Hamilton, wrote stating that he hoped to be able to make arrangements to attend the Show on February 15. Acknowledging an invitation. Mr W. M. Singleton. Director of the Dairy Division. Department of Agriculture, stated that he would be pleased to attend the show if other official duties permitted. Similar letters were received from the Minister of Agriculture. the Hon W. Lee Martin, and Mr L. C. Pinkerton, American ConsulGeneral. I
The Masterton Women’s National Welfare League was granted permission to hold a sale of goods, made by the Institute for the Blind, on both days of the forthcoming Show. The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board wrote staling that it had been decided to donate £2O as prize money for the chilled beef classes at the Masterton Show. The donation was made with a view to further assisting the chilled beef industry and the hope was expressed that the association would organise a field day in order to demonstrate to the breeders the type of chilled beef required for the Home market.
On the recommendation of the ground committee, it was agreed that the main entrance to the Showgrounds remain at York Street.
It was decided that the cup for interhouse competition be handed over to the Inter-House Association provided that should the association cease to exist the cup revert to the A. and P. Association.
Accounts amounting to £133 19s 5d were passed. Eighteen new members were elected. the president remarking that the position was very' satisfactory’ and that great credit was due to the secretary. Mr R. H. Williams, for his good work.
