SCHEME BEFORE HOUSE OF COMMONS PRIVATE MEMBER’S MOTION. SUPPORTED BY PREMIER. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 1.20 p.m.) LONDON, February 2. A private member’s motion on a scheme for pensions for past members of the House of Commons over sixty years of age, with less than £3 a week on which to live, was moved in the House by Sir' Assheton Pow, nail. He said £1 a month deducted from the salary of all members of the House of Commons would yield £7,000. a year. The pensions would be at the rate of £l5O a year for members needing them. Mr Chamberlain, supporting the motion, pointed 'out that the scheme imposed no charge on the public funds.
The motion was carried by 204 votes to 103.
