AIR STRENGTH

GERMANY’S TREMENDOUS PREPONDERANCE

LINDBERGH’S REPORTED

WARNING.

PRIOR TO CZECH. CRISIS

By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. TORONTO, February 1.

Lord Lothian, who is visiting here, revealed today that Colonel Lindbergh warned the British Government concerning Russia’s weakness and Germany’s strength in the air shortly before the Czech crisis.

Colonel Lindbergh, acting on Lady Astor’s advice, gave a report on the subject to Sir Thomas Inskip, then Minister for the Co-ordination of Defence.

Lord Lothian added that British air power would probably never equal Germany’s, which Colonel Lindbergh characterised as the greatest in the world. Lord Lothian intimated, however, that British military aviation was rapidly improving.

ROYAL AIR FORCE

FOREIGN ESTIMATES MUCH ON LOW SIDE.

GREAT AND RAPID INCREASE IN STRENGTH.

By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 9 a.m.) LONDON, February 2.

“The Times” aeronautical correspondent, commenting on foreign estimates of Britain’s air stength, says it can be said that these are very much on the low side. Something like a miracle happened in last year’s acceleration of deliveries. The correspondent quotes Mr Neville Chamberlain’s prophecy that the output of May will be between twice or thrice in advance-of that of May, 1938. The labour strength between and 1937 rose to 80,000 from 30,000 and now is infinitely higher, with 3500 firms sub-contracting. The Royal Air Force today is going from strength to strength.
