SWIMMING CARNIVAL. PROGRAMME OF EVENTS. (“Times-Age" Special.) The following programme will be decided at the Carterton Swimming Chib's weekly carnival on Thursday evening:—50 yards junior boys; 25 yards junior girls: 50 yards intermediate; 100 yards rnen; 50 yards ladies; 25 yards open breaststroke; junior dive; senior dive; relay; 25 yards open scratch race. BOWLING. CHAMPION PAIRS. The semi-final game in the champion pairs was played on the Carterton green last evening when Boyne and Simmonds (s) defeated Williams and Riggs (s) after a closely contested game throughout. The game ended 2.3/20. Boyne and Simmonds (s) (1 life) will play the final with Harrington and Thompson (s) (2 lives). Personals. Mr and Mrs W. Allen and family have returned to Carterton after a holiday spent in Wellington and other places. Mr Percy Burns, of Auckland, is a visitor to Carterton. It is 32 years ago since Mr Burns lived in Carterton. He is at present hunting up old boyhood friends. He will leave today to visit Wellington and afterwards return to Auckland. He is at present attached to the Housing Department in the Auckland district. Vital Statistics. The following are the vital statistics for January, together with the figures for the corresponding month in 1938: — Births, 1938 6, 1939 8; deaths, 1938 4, 1939 5; marriages, 1938 5, 1939 3. St. Mark’s Church. A service will be held at Ponatalii on Sunday next at 2 p.m.
