In the Australian tennis championships the semi-finals of the women’s singles resulted:—Mrs Hopman defeated Miss Coyne, 6/3, 6/4; Mrs Westacott defeated Miss Hartigan, 6/2, 6/3. AUSTRALIAN DAVIS CUP TEAM. NOT TO VISIT WIMBLEDON. (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The council of the Lawn Tennis association has decided that the Australian Davis Cup team shall not visit Wimbledon this year but go direct to the United States.
