“KEEP FIT” WEEK
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. PROGRAMME ARRANGED. At a meeting of the 'Keep Fit" Week Committee, at which delegates from the various sports 'bodies were □resent, the following programme was irawn up:— Saturday, February 18: A proces;ion is to be held of all sports bodies ind kindred societies through Queen Street to the Park, where demonstraions of baseball, basketball, etc., will )e carried out. Sunday, February 19: Special ihurch services,, to be attended by the zarious sports bodies and organisa.ions. ' Monday, February 20: Evening denonstration in the Park of Y.M.C.A., Scouts and College Cadets. Tuesday, February 21: Swimming .•arnival.
Wednesday, February 22: Masterton amateur athletic evening sports carnival.
Thursday, February 23: Folk dancng and drill at the Park. Friday, February 24: Dance on the Park lawn accompanied by the band and local orchestras at 9.30 p.m. Arrangements for the procession were left in the hands of Messrs Fafan and Hodder. Messrs Mackley, Kennedy, Baybutt and Gaze were appointed an advertising ■ committee. It was decided that the speakers Cor the “Keep Fit” Week are to be arranged by Miss Sutherland and Mr Morice. Mr A. W. Allsop was appointed secretary. In conjunction with the foregoing programme, luncheons and talks are .o be arranged at which health and diet will be the subjects. The schools will also participate and arrangements were left in the hands of Mr Coddington..
A “Learn to Swim” Week will be acid in conjunction with the "Keep Fit” campaign.
