LANSDOWNE SCHOOL

OPENING BY MR J. ROBERTSON. CEREMONY NEXT WEDNESDAY. Arrangements for the official opening of the new Lansdowne School on Wednesday next were made by the Lansdowne School Committee last night at a special meeting over which Mr H. E. Pither presided. It was decided unanimously to invite Mr J. Robertson, member for Master ton, to perform the opening ceremony, which it was agreed should take place at 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday next. Invitations are being extended to the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, and borough councillors .and all others interested, parents-particularly, are invited io attend. Messrs W. R. Nicol and A. Donald will represent the Wellington Education Board. -

The new school, which is now ready for occupation, replaces the old one which was condemned as unsafe on account of earthquake damage. Complete with fine classrooms and accessories and built on open-air lines, the school embodies all the latest facilities in modern school design.

Following on the closing of the Wangaehu School, the children formerly attending that school will be transported to the Lansdowne School. This will increase the roll number by about 20.
