IMPORT LICENCE

ISSUED TO MASTERTON FIRM

COVERING GOODS ON THE WATER.

What was probably the first import licence granted to a Masterton business firm was received yesterday by Mr H. E. Pither in respect to a shipment of goods on the water, ordered before December 5. As far as can be ascertained. no licences for the six-monthly period from January to June have been issued so far to local traders.

Referring to the effect of licensing Mr Pither said that as far as books published in England were concerned, he did not anticipate any restriction, though he understood that reductions would be made in importations of American periodicals.
