PROGRAMME EXTENDED APPOINTMENT OF PURCHASING BOARD. TO PREVENT PROFITEERING. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. OTTAWA, January 25. In the House of Commons, the Minister of Defence (Mr lan Mackenzie) announced a fifty million dollar loan to finance a defence programme extension covering the purchase of two cruisers, heavy guns, warplanes and army equipment.
To prevent profiteering, all future defence purchases will be made through a Government Purchasing Board consisting of business men and an army officer.
