Refused Admission to France REBEL SEAPLANES CROSS FRONTIER DRIVEN BACK BY DEFENDING BATTERIES (Received This Day, 9.30 a.m.) PERPIGNAN, January 25. The Republican Government has departed for Gerona, leaving one representative of each Ministry behind, with Senor del Vayo " in charge. Streams ,of refugees are reaching the frontier. Fifty women were permitted to cross, but all men were turned back. Three Republican sloops put in at the French port of Lanouvelle. General Franco’s seaplanes bombed the Catalan coast, causing a panic among refugees. After the raid they flew over the border. French batteries at Cefbere fired on the machines and drove them back. Two planes, engaging in a dog fight, passed over French terntory and dropped seventeen bombs, damaging several houses. The majority of the personnel of foreign embassies have crossed the frontier.
