In the police court today, Robert David Donaldson, aged 31, was fined £350 for bookmaking. Three assistants were fined £l5. £lO and £5 respectively. The police, referring to the extent of defendan’ts business, stated that during Christmas week he took bets of over £l5OO. He was one of the biggest operators in the South Island.
