WEDDING

MCDONALD—ANGOVE. Knox Presbyterian Church, Masterton, was the scene of a pretty evening wedding on Saturday, when Alexia Vera, second daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Angove. of Waingawa, was married to William Fraser, eldest son of Mr and Mrs 1 J. McDonald, of Te Ore Ore. The Rev John Davie performed the ceremony, and Mr Wilson presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a trained gown of magnolia satin, cut on princess lines. Her embroidered veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom, both these being lent by a friend. Her bouquet was composed of lilies, stock, asters and fern.

The bride’s sister, Edith, supported her as bridesmaid, wearing a charming frock of French blue georgette over satin and a halo of blue and gold flowers, and carried a pretty bouquet of blue and gold. Mr Alec MacDonald supported his brother as best man.

On leaving the church the bride was presented with a lucky horseshoe by her niece, Helen Angove. A reception was held in a marquee at the home of the bride’s parents, where Mr and Mrs Angove, assisted by Mr and Mrs McDonald, Senr., received the guests. The bride’s mother wore navy blue, the bridegroom’s mother being also in navy trimmed with a lighter blue. Both carried posies of flowers to tone. Sweet peas and gladioli decorated the tables and the beautiful two tier cake held place of honour, this being presented to the bride by Mr and Mrs Hawksworth. The principal toast of the evening, the bride and bridegroom, was proposed by Mr Davie. Mr and Mrs W. McDonald left later’ by car for..their honeymoon. The bride travelled in a frock of navy with a light summer coat and accessories to tone. Their future home will be in Masterton.
