NEW ZEALAND TOURNAMENT EXCELLENT PLAY WITNESSED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N„ January 23. Excellent progress was made today in the New Zealand championship croquet, tournament, which is being held in Palmerston North. The weather was at its best, and the greens were playing true. Some excellent play was witnessed in many of the games. Results; — WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP. First Life. Mrs Anstis (Palmerston North) beat Mrs Bryan (Lower Hutt) 26-25. Second round: Mrs Gambrill beat Mrs Henderson, 26-2. Second Life. Second round: Mrs Ryan beat Mrs Eurratt, 26-11. MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP.
