POLICE IN PALESTINE
SENTENCE ON J.- MANSELL QUASHED FIRING HELD JUSTIFIED, JUDGMENT IN SECOND CASE RESERVED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 10.20 a.m.) JERUSALEM, January 23. The Court of Appeal quashed the sentence on J. Mansell, holding that Mansell was justified in firing in view of the appalling conditions in Jaffa. The Court reserved its judgment in Wood's case, in order to consider whether he fired the fatal shot. Mansell was one of four plain clothes constables concerned in an incident in Palestine and was sentenced to a year’s imprisonment for attempted bodily harm. Mansell and another constable, William Wood, who was sentenced to three years’ impris-. onment for attempted manslaughter, appealed against their conviction. LONDON CONFERENCE. ATTENDANCE OF ARAB OBSERVERS. (Received This Day, 12.45 p.m.) CAIRO. January 23. Arab delegates to the Palestine conference in London will leave Port Said on January 24. The Grand Mufti has agreed that two members of the Arab Opposition Party shall attend as observers.
