PERSONAL ITEMS. ("Times-Age” Special.) Miss H. Moncrief! and Miss M. D. B. Shane, of Wellington, have been staying with Mrs H. Moncricff. Victoria Street. Miss Violet Cable, Port Chalmers, has been visiting Carterton and was the guest of Mrs K. Lamb, Wyndham Street. Mr Hector Tankersley, of Wellington, spent the week-end with his parents, Mr and Mrs R. Tankersley, Rexwood Street. Miss Gwen Every has returned from the South Island, and is spending the remainder of the holidays with her parents, Mr and Mrs R. H. Every, Garrison Street. Mr C. F. Smith, senior telegraphist of Wellington, is at present on duty at the Carterton Post Office. Mr W. Bird, a member of the Post Office .staff at Carterton, accompanied by Mrs Bird, will leave this week on a holiday to be spent in the Taranaki district. Miss Dorgan, who has been school teaching in Australia, has returned to Dalefield and will take up her old position as headmistress at Dalefield School when the school reassembles. Theatre Tickets. Mrs W. Neilsen, of Dalefield, and Mr W. Gray, of High Street, were the first two lucky people to secure free l tickets for the Tivoli Theatre. Unfortunately, it was announced that tickets would be available tonight or tomorrow night. Tickets are not available to the Tivoli on Saturdays or holidays so if Mrs Neilsen and Mr Gray wish, those tickets can be used tomorrow or Wednesday. There's another lucky resident mentioned again today on page 1. CRICKET MATCH. GOOD WIN FOR LOCAL TEAM. Playing at Masterton Park Oval on Saturday, Carterton juniors put up a great record by defeating Old Boys without the loss of a wicket (an 8point win). Old Boys took the first use of me crease and could do nothing with the bowling of Ewing and Berry, the former getting seven wickets in eight overs for 25 runs, while Berry captured three for 19 runs in seven overs. Byers secured 0 for 2 in one over in the first innings. The following were the scores: —

The innings was “declared" without the loss of a wicket and the score 151.

BOWLING. CHAMPION RINK FINAL Four rinks were occupied on the local green on Saturday and a very pleasant afternoon was spent. Afternoon tea was kindly presided over by Mrs Alan Barr and Miss McLean, and a hearty vote of thanks carried by acclamation, was accorded them for their services. The final for the rink championship between Hughan’s and Tucker’s rinks was played and after a hard game throughout, with a tricky wind blowing. was won by Hughan’s rink, which will now represnt the club at the Centre Championship. On the 17th end the score was 14 all. Hughan got three on the next end. On the 19th and 20th ends Tucker got two singles, 17/16 in favour of Hughan. In the final end De Lacey drew a shot near kitty which was not disturbed and the game ended amid congratulations, by 18/16 in favour of Hughan’s rink. The teams were: Kilmister, Newbould, De Lacey, Hughan fs); W. Steven, Robertson, Barr, Tucker (s).

Carterton v. Pahiatua. Six rinks of Carterton bowlers played a week-end game with a similar number of Pahiatua players, and suffered defeat by 10 games to 2 on ? a splendid green. The visitors were hospitably entertained and were given a hearty welcome by Mr Hodd. which was reciprocated by Mr J. L. Harris, who extended a hearty welcome to Pahiatua bowlers to visit Carterton.
