FEATHERSTON COUNTY COUNCIL. YESTERDAY’S MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Featherston County Council meeting was continued yesterday afternoon. Cm the application of Mr J. D. Rowiomls, it was decided to make altera(ions to the Dry River water race running through his property. The Engineer was instructed to proceed, with a survey of the proposed deviation on Ussher Hill Road. The work is estimated to cost from £lOOO to £l5OO. The annual expenditure on this road previously was approximately £3OO. Housing for road overseers was considered and it was decided to procure plans for rebuilding at Kahutara. It was resolved to proceed with another mile of construction work on the Cape Palliser Road, and a committee was set up to go into the matter of Fuller’s Road. It was decided to write to Mi’ Matthews asking his permission to construct cattle stops instead of fences on the Wharekatihau Road.

Complaints were received from the police and residents regarding the conduct of some of the dances in the Kahutara Hall. The Council decided to take steps to amend the bylaws to licence all halls in the county, allowing the police to take action. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs R. Nicol and family returned to Dannevirke yesterday after a holiday spent at Tablelands. Mr and Mrs Duncan Morrison and family, of Hinakura, are away on a fortnight's holiday.
