DRUNKEN MOTORISTS

A sentence of fourteen days' imprisonment with hai’d labour was imposed on Deryck Spiller, a company | manager, aged 28. when he appeared j before Mr A. M. Goulding, S.M., in the Magistrates' Court, Upper Hutt, yesterday, charged with having been intoxicated in charge of a motor-car at Heretaunga on Thursday. The magis- ' Irate ordered that Spiller’s driving licence be cancelled for 18 months. WOMAN FINED £lO. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. A charge of having been intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car in Wellington on Thursday evening was admitted in the Magistrates’ Court yesterday by Tui Amelia Scally, clerk, aged 31. Taking into consideration that she had drunk the liquor at Trentharn and that its effects had apparently been delayed till she had driven a distance, Mr J. H. Luxford, S.M.. said he would not impose the usual penalty but would fine her £lO and prohibit her from holding a driving' licence till 12 months after May 31.
