BROADCASTS IN ESPERANTO

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Apropos your recently published news article relative to radio programmes in foreign languages from station Paris PTT: Journals from overseas indicate that from April to December last the station broadcast 32 plays entirely in Esperanto, including the famous satirical comedy of Aristophanes, “The Birds,” translated from the Greek original. It is also interesting to note that during the past twelve months Esperanto has been increasingly used in short-wave broadcasts from Rome and that station 2RO now issues monthly a 30page wireless programme in Esperanto. Statistics published by the Station authorities disclosed that more people listen to Esperanto talks than to those in English, French, and German. —I am, etc., WM. H. KING, Vice-President, N.Z. Esperanto Association. Masterton, January 20.
