Preferring to await the outcome of the conference to bo held in Wellington next week with the . object of clarifying the position, a special meeting of importers and business men decided meantime not to sign the petition framed in Auckland, asking that the import regulations be revoked until their validity has been tested in Court. It was also decided to submit for clarification any special, circumstances or anomalies applying locally. The opinion was expressed that the import restrictions would be followed by a rise in the cost of living, which was already manifesting itself.
