A statement that the Government, had banned the importation of seaming twine led to some laughter at a meeting of the executive of the North Canterbury Farmers’ Union. “Perhaps they don’t know the difference between binder twine and seaming twine,” suggested Mr W. W. Mulholland, president of the Dominion Union. “I heard it was the thin end of the wedge for getting zip fasteners on all sacks,” replied Mr J. E. H. McGrath.
