WOOL MARKET

SALE AT WANGANUI.

BIDDING ANIMATED WITH DEFINED LIMITS.

<Bv Telegraph—Press Association.)

( ' WANGANUI, January 19. At the first Wanganui wool sale of the season, which was held today before a full bench of buyers, a catalogue of 27,344 bales was offered. The condition of the wool was average to good. Passings were negligible, practically a total clearance being effected under the, hammer.

Bidding was well spread, very animated and sustained throughout., but within defined limits. The Continent was the mainstay of the market, with Bradford operating within, limits.

As compared with recent sales, good wools were unchanged, but medium to ordinary topmaking sorts were a little erratic and slightly in buyers’ favour. Lower quality wools were fully up to recent sales in other centres. Lambs’ wool was erratic and hard to quit, but bellies, pieces, and crutchings were on a par with recent sales. The official range of prices as supplied by the Wanganui Woolbrokers' Association was as follows: —
