NEW SWIMMING BATHS

CONSIDERATION BY BOROUGH COUNCIL. STATEMENT BY MAYOR. An assurance that the question of providing new swimming baths in Masterton had not been lost sight of by the Borough Council, was given by the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, when answering a questioner at last night’s public meeting. “You would think,” he remarked, ‘that you could get new baths out of a hat, but it is not as easy as all that. The question of new baths has been under consideration for some time. Finance, however, has to be arranged and then the question of site and other details have tc bo decided upon. Information is being obtained by the Borough Engineer regarding the provision of tepid baths. I quite admit that the present baths do not owe this community anything and I agree that they are not suitable for a town of this size: “I. hope that the question of new baths will come before the council at an early datc : and -I also hope that, through the council, the public will be given an opportunity of saying whether they are prepared to foot the bill for tepid baths.”
