PERSONAL ITEMS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr Thompson, who had been staying at the Lake Ferry, has returned to Invercargill. Mrs Rangi Piripi is visiting the Lower Hutt for the wedding of her sister, Miss Louise Dennett. Mrs Stan Thomas, who is visiting her parents at Taumarunui, is expected home: this week. Mrs Ross, Ashburton, is staying with her neice, Miss N. McDougall. Mrs W. Hume and her sister, Mrs. tyaddell, Bluff, who have been on an extended tour of England and the Continent, returned recently. Mr and Mrs Hardie, Martinborough, are staying at their cottage at the Lake Ferry. Mr and Mrs Ruka, Taihape, were visitors here for a few days. The Misses Lemon, who were staying with their sister, Mrs Te Whaiti, have returned to their home at Taihape. Mr Roger Pearce, Wairoa, is visiting relatives in this district. Miss Hanlon has returned home

after an extensive motor tour of the North Island. Messrs. M. and N.” Hume, who were visiting their mother at the week-end have returned to Wanganui and Martinborough, respectively. Mrs Arthur Warren has left on a visit to her relatives at Christchurch. A social is being tendered at the Lake Ferry to Mr. Gordon Sutherland, who is to be married shortly. Boisterous Weather. The weather, although fine, has been windy and gales of unusual severity have been experienced during the week. No damage of any consequence is reported, although fruit trees suffered considerably. The wind at the Lake Ferry was the worst experienced for some time and campers had an unenviable time. Waves in the Lake rose to a considerable height. Visit of Maoris. It is expected that a large contingent of Maoris from the Gisborne district will visit this district at the end of the month. Natives from different parts of the Wairarapa will assemble at Kohunui to met them. Already preparations are being made for their reception.
