AT LONDON WOOL SALES
GOOD GENERAL COMPETITION
Messrs Levin and Co, Ltd, have received from their London agents the following cable, dated January 17:— “The auction sales opened here today with a large attendance of Home and Continental buyers. There was good general competition, particularly from Home trade.”
Compared with the closing rates of last sale they quote: —
Greasy Merino, best, 1 to id per lb lower.
Greasy Merino, average, 2>d to ?d per lower. 7 Fine halfbreds, 50/56's. Id to 5d per lb lower.
Extra fine Xbreds, 48/50's, id per lb lower.
Fine crossbreds, 46/48's, id per lb lower.
Medium crossbreds, 44/46's, id per lb lower.
Coarse crossbreds, 40/44's, id per lb lower.
Low crossbreds, 36/40’s, id per lb lower.
Slipe wool generally, id per lb lower. As at present arranged, the sales will close on February 2.
