NEW EVENING JACKETS. A tall conical straw brimmed hat, copied from an' Arabian model, will look different on the beach this summer. Typical of Schiaparelli are the gold claws on black antelope gloves which are worn with a black velvet tunic over a sheath of black crepe, which is her newest evening silhouette.
The very newest of evening jackets for the approaching cooler weather are quilted and padded like those for a Chinese princess. Charles James makes one of white satin, with a thick, soft roll of itself round the edges and sleeves.
Mainbocher’s black satin Edwardian dinner dress has the top of the bodice, the short sleeves, and elbow-length gloves in fine black net.
Wool is featured for evening wear by Molyneux in an unusual tweed evening jacket, embroidered with jewels on the long full sleeves.
