RELIEF OF UNEMPLOYMENT.

An intimation that the annual vote for defence will establish an all-time record for Canada was featured in the Speech from the Throne at the opening of Parliament today, without disclosing the total. A three-man defence purchasing commission will be established in order to prevent munitions profiteering. A legislation forecast includes: Regulation of grain exchanges, readjustment of Government aid for grain growers, unemployment insurance and a long-range public works programme, to relieve unemployment.
