SPECTACULAR PLAY

IN BOWLING SINGLES

ENGLISH CHAMPION BEATEN.

THRILLING CONTESTS IN PAIRS

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, January 12.

A large crowd was present at the Carlton green today to watch post-sec-tion play in the New Zealand championship bowls pairs competition, as well as four singles contests which were made possible by the elimination of the required players from the pairs event.

An extra head was required to decide the issue.
