Champion Athletes to Meet.
There will be a notable gathering of athletes in Dunedin on Saturday, when four Empire Games finalists —W. A. C. Pullar (Masterton), V. P. Boot (Canterbury), G. Backhouse (Australia) and T. Allen (Dunedin) —will meet in the one mile invitation handicap. It seems almost certain that Pullar’s Otago record of 4.18 will be broken. Mr Pullar will journey to Dunedin by aeroplane from Masterton on Saturday morning.
Deer-Stalkers Delayed. Considerable concern was felt in Central Hawke’s Bay yesterday for the safety of two young men who went out into the Ruahine Ranges last Saturday on a deer-stalking expedtiion and failed to return till last night. A search party under Constable Ryan, Ormondville, set out last night, but the two men later returned to their homes. They had been delayed in getting out of the ranges, but were in no way distressed by their experience.
