BASEBALL MATCHES

COMPETITION PLAY. WAIRARAPA DRAW ANNOUNCED. The competition matches of the Wairarapa Baseball Association will officially commence on Saturday next at the hockey grounds, Lansdowne. Seven teams are now available and the draw for the first section of match play was arranged at a meeting of the Management Committee held last night. The draw is as follows: —

First Round (Saturday, January 14): FajJan Motors v Harcombe Motors: Territorials v Reliance Tyres; Pirates v Borthwick’s Bears; Old Boys a bye.

Second Round: Fagan Motors ‘v Old Boys; Territorials v Harcombe Motors; Pirates v Reliance Tyres; Borthwick's Bears a bye. Third Round: Fagan Motors v Territorials; Old Boys v Harcombe Motors; Reliance Tyres v Borthwick’s Bears; Pilates a bye. Fourth Round: Fagan Motors v Borthwick’s Bears; Territorials v Old Boys; Pirates v Harcombe Motors; Reliance Tyres a bye. Fifth Round: Pirates v Territorials; Harcombe Motors v Reliance Tyres; Old Boys v Borthwick's Bears; Fagan Motors a bye. Sixth Round: Fagan Motors v Reliance Tyres; Territorials v Borthwick's Bears: Pirates v Old Boys; Harcombe Motors a bye.

Seventh Round: Pirates v Fagan Motors: Old Boys v Reliance Tyres: Harcombe Motors v Borthwick's Bears; Territorials a bye. Saturday's matches will commence at 1.30 p.m. when Fagan Motors will play Harcombe Motors (Umpires: Messrs Claridge and Harding) and Territorials will play Reliance Tyres (Umpires: Messrs McPhail and K. Mills). At 3 p.m. Pirates will play Borthwick's Bears (Umpires: Messrs Parsonson and Harding) and a practice game will be arranged for Old Boys with reserve players from other teams. Practices' are now being held regularly on Tuesday and Thursdays from 5 p.m. onwards and any intending players are invited by the association to attend any such practice.
