CENTURY OF WAR
PREDICTED BY JAPANESE OFFICER
CREATION OF NEW WORLD.
DELIVERANCE “FROM OBJECT MISERY."
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. TOKIO, January 7.
The country has been stirred by an article in the “Nichi Shimbun” by Lieutenant-General Tatsuhiko Takashima, of the Army General Staff, in which he declares that Japan is on the threshold of a century of war in order to attain a renovation of the world in accordance with Japanese ideals.
It must be remembered, says the article, that a reconstruction of the East and a renaissance of Asia means the creation of a new world and the transforming of muddled modern conditions.
A settlement of the China question must inevitably result in an epochmaking transformation of the world for which Japan is concentrating her entire national resources. She is the only country fitted by her history and capabilities to deliver the world from its abject misery. MILITARY REVIEW JAPANESE MECHANISED FORCES. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Received This Day, 10.10 a.m.) TOKIO, January 8. Twenty thousand officers and men, 240 planes and 100 tanks and armoured cars participated in the annual New Year review, near the Neiji Shrine, in the presence of the Emperor.
