BLUE AND PINK PARTY

ENJOYABLE GIFT EVENING. A delightful gift evening was given to Miss Mary Booth and her fiance, Mr Norman Buchanan, of Dannevirke, on Thursday evening. The party was held in the State Theatre, Carterton, which had been transformed into a most attractive lounge. The hostesses were Mesdames R. W. Roydhouse. H. M. B. Trapp, J. Steel. Lyndon Aplin, R. T. Forbes and Miss Wolters.

An advertisement and celebrities competition was won by Miss Mary Booth, the second prize going to Masters J. Lawrence and B. Steel, who each guessed 26. In the toss up B. Steel won. Mr R. W. Roydhouse, on behalf of the assembled friends, wished Miss Booth and Mr Buchanan happiness and prosperity in the future, and spoke in glowing terms of Miss Booth’s popularity. The huge gaily-decorated basket containing the parcels wfts then placed on the stage, and Mr Roydhouse invited the guests to open them. As they went up to do so they were accorded musical honours. The parcels contained something blue for the kitchen, and pink for the bathroom. Mr Buchanan suitably returned thanks. After supper the floor was cleared for dancing which continued merrily until midnight.
